The right words, the right time..
There are some people that can write in such a way as to build a real feeling of connection with the reader. This is one such writer.
Excerpt:

This. Is. perfect. My most beloved books make me feel this way. Like the author has that magic in them and we are lucky enough to be bewitched by their words.
In the famous words of Carl Sagan, “A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.”

I loved reading this spin-off from the Night Huntress series. Before this, I did not have a strong feel for who Mencheres was. After reading this, though, I have a much greater sense of who he is and what drives him. He is a man that does everything he can to protect those he cares about, but believes he is not worthy of happiness because of the lengths he has had to go to providing protection. He has gone thousands of years without desiring someone to love, but that changes with Kira.
I REALLY like Kira. She is the perfect match for Mencheres, they are so similar. Both are self-sacrificing for those they love. She is such a strong and identifiable.
Vlad (Dracula, though he hates being called that). He is my favorite character in the whole series, and I’m so glad he was in this story. He is sexy, funny, and a bad-ass with fire-wielding abilities. Cannot wait to read his trilogy, but that is another blog.
I recommend reading this, especially if you’ve read the other books in the series. If you love action, supernatural, dream-worthy characters, and humor, this book is for you. It does have some parts to it which were sort of repetitive, like the internal struggle Mencheres deals with. But still, a very good read, giving an insight into a very mysterious vampire.

I normally can’t get enough of whatever series I’m reading, and am very saddened when they end, like I am saying goodbye to a really good friend that I won’t see again for a very long time. But then there is this series. The only reason I have continued reading this is because once I start something, I have to see it through. I don’t like leaving things unfinished. I also really like Heath, though there are only small glimpses of him throughout this book. The problem could be that I’m getting older, and expect more out of the stories I read and from the authors, but I don’t think that is entirely it. The quality started off really good in the series, and I think started going downhill after Awakened, which, when I read it, was really excellent. But again, my opinion could change if I re-read it. This really should have been a 9-book series, at most. The storyline is getting so dragged out. This book in particular was absolutely pointless. Probably could have skipped it and just read the next one, it was that devoid of anything happening. I am tired of most of the characters, especially Neferet (why, oh why, has this one not been killed yet and replaced with a different conflict?), Stevie Rae, Zoey, and Stark. Heath, Aphrodite, and Kalona are the only ones that I still like, or can even stand. The dialogue has gone way, way down. I think the authors have taken it upon themselves to see how much they can dumb down the English language. I realize this is YA, but teens don’t really talk like that, and it’s insulting to them to write like they do. I really hope the next book will be the last one.
What Happens When Gods Are Ignored? A Gameboard of the Gods Review
I absolutely love everything that Richelle Mead writes. Every time I acquire another of her books, this is what I feel like doing:

In the future, there is an outbreak of a virus which causes major changes in society. There is one country that comes out stronger, called the RUNA, while the others are full of violence and unrest. Justin March is an ex-servitor (a position which checks in on religions to make sure they are abiding by the laws and do not become too powerful) who is like the servitor’s version of Doctor Gregory House. He has a compulsion to figure things out, and has a knack for reading people and learning all there is to know about them. He is charming and handsome, but has a drug and drinking problem, not to mention two crows he has conversations with which live inside his mind, occasionally manifesting in the real world. Justin has been exiled by the RUNA, into a country that he deems as far less than ideal since it lacks the greatest technologies and comforts of the RUNA. Many years after his ousting, he comes into contact with a RUNA praetorian soldier named Mae, who has been assigned to protect Justin as he is brought back to resume his work as a servitor. He may be the countries best chance at solving a slew of murders that are believed to be linked to a cult.
From the moment I picked it up, I was hooked. It is full of mystery and action, with hints of the supernatural embedded in a realistic future world. The characters and the storyline was very well written, with a lot of solid background for what was happening in this drastically changed world.

Justin: Intelligent, Handsome, Cocky, Charismatic, Narcissistic, Non-Committal, Protective of family and friends.

My First!
Hello Everybody! I am starting this blog because I absolutely love books, and I wanted to have somewhere to jot down thoughts and insights about them, and share with others. I am also really wanting this to be a forum for discussion about literature, because I enjoy hearing other peoples opinions and impressions. My favorite type of books are those with a supernatural element (vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, fae, dragons, anything along those lines). I love living in fantasy worlds because they are “other” to this one. There are books that I enjoy outside of that genre, just find those easiest to lose myself in. This is going to be a wonderful outlet to connect with people that have a love of reading and can be completely enraptured by the words of a good read. This is my very first blog, and I’m excited to begin this journey!
